Mastering The Scout Quest In Escape From Tarkov: A Comprehensive Guide

Midway through Mechanic’s task chain, you’ll encounter the task called Scout, which challenges you to explore some of the more difficult areas of the Factory map. Completing this quest is straightforward as it doesn’t demand any special keys or costly items to accomplish its objectives. However, the primary danger lies within the map's compact size, filled with other players and Scavs lurking around every corner. In this guide, we’ll delve into everything you need to know about successfully completing the Scout quest in Escape from Tarkov.

The Scout task requires you to visit four specific PMC extraction points scattered throughout the Factory map. Since the layout is roughly square, you can start from any corner. The extraction points are strategically located at the four corners of the main floor, allowing for efficient navigation. For our reference, we will use the Forklifts spawn as the starting point.

It’s important to note that you do not need to visit all four extraction points within a single raid. However, after scouting each location, you must successfully extract from the map to complete the task. This flexibility can help you strategize your approach and survive the dangerous environment of Factory.

How to Complete the Scout Mechanic Task in Escape from Tarkov

The first extraction point you’ll want to locate is the Cellar Extract. Almost immediately outside the Forklifts area, a staircase with rusty guardrails can be seen. Follow this staircase downwards, and keep an eye out for a dark corner at the base where a red door resides. While you will need the Factory Emergency Exit Key to actually use this door, merely approaching it will fulfill the requirements of the Scout subtask.

Next up is Gate 3, which is located directly to the west of Forklifts. To reach it, navigate through the Glass Hall, a narrow hallway leading west from Forklifts with windows lining the sides. Continue through the hall until you reach the end, exit, take a right, and proceed through the two small doors set in the large, red metal warehouse doors. You’ll find Gate 3 behind the second door, right next to the green flares.

Gate 0 Extract Location on Factory

Gate 0 serves as both an extraction and spawn point and is in the opposite corner from Forklifts. The sun casting a yellow tint in the room, the green crates positioned in the center, and a path leading to the second floor are indicators that you're close. The Gate 0 door is situated directly behind the PMC spawn, and as with Cellar, simply approaching it is sufficient to complete the subtask.

Med Tent Extract Location on Factory

The Med Tent is easily identifiable due to the large TerraLabs medical tent located in front of it. Positioned as the southeasternmost extract, you can get to it by traveling through the left (south) hallways from Forklift or directly east from Gate 0. However, be cautious of potential boss spawns and PMCs that may appear in the hallways between Gate 0 and Med Tents. Entering this extraction point also requires a key, but simply approaching the door will suffice for the subtask.

Once you’ve scouted all four extraction points, you’ll need to use any one of them to successfully complete the task. Remember, you must survive the raid; running through without care won't count! Finally, don’t forget to click Complete in Mechanic’s task menu to wrap up your quest.
