So, let’s explore how to set up your base and create the necessary tools for gear repair!

What You Will Learn

  • The significance of repairing gear in Once Human.
  • How to establish a base for repairs.
  • Steps to craft a Gear Workbench and Disassembly Machine.
  • Understanding the Repair menu and resource requirements.

How to Repair Gear in Once Human

Repairing your gear in Once Human is a crucial aspect of gameplay. Fortunately, the process is simple and can be completed early on. The first step is to establish a base. Just press “B” and place the base platform on a flat surface wherever you deem suitable.

After building your base, the next step is to create a Gear Workbench. This essential crafting station can be found in the Build Menu (accessible by right-clicking in build mode) under the “Facilities” tab. To unlock the Gear Workbench, you need to navigate through the Memetic menu. It's also beneficial to construct a Disassembly Machine to gather the necessary resources for building the Gear Workbench. Below are the required materials:

  • 30 Copper Ingots – crafted in a Furnace using Coal and Copper Ore or found on corpses.
  • 10 Metal Scraps – can be salvaged from loot or obtained by breaking down items at the Disassembly Machine.
  • Shabby Fabric – can be found as loot or acquired via disassembly.
  • Adhesive – found as loot or obtained from disassembly.

Once you have all the materials gathered, craft the Gear Workbench and approach it. You'll see an option to press “H” to access the Repair menu. This menu allows you to fully repair any weapon or gear in your inventory. However, tools like the Crude Pickaxe cannot be repaired; you'll need to craft new ones when they reach their limit. Each item has a durability indicator, allowing you to monitor its condition.

If an item is at full durability, you won’t be able to repair it. When ready to repair, simply click on the item to view its repair costs. Generally, the required resources are affordable, but certain advanced weapons or gear may demand rarer materials. Once you've gathered the necessary items, hold “F” to confirm the repair, restoring your gear's durability in Once Human.

Once Human is now available to play, providing an immersive experience where managing your gear is essential for survival. Keep your weapons and items in top condition to tackle the game's challenges head-on!
