As you wander through Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the eastern part of the map will seem inaccessible. This area is known as Jagged Peak, and it houses one of the toughest bosses in the game—Bayle. Many players find themselves struggling to reach this formidable foe, but with the right guidance, you can navigate the treacherous paths and challenges that lie ahead.
From traversing the Dragon’s Pit to battling fierce dragons, this guide will equip you with all the essential strategies needed to conquer Jagged Peak and face Bayle. Prepare yourself for an adventure filled with danger, excitement, and, ultimately, triumph as you ascend to one of Elden Ring’s most challenging encounters!
First, let's explore how to reach Jagged Peak and the various obstacles you'll encounter on your way.
The easiest way to reach Jagged Peak in Elden Ring is by entering through the Dragon’s Pit, which is situated in the Gravesite Plain. To get there quickly, cross the Ellac Greatbridge until you find a Site of Grace at an enemy camp. After resting, head east down the path and follow it until you reach a fork in the road. At this point, you should hear an NPC lamenting about Bayle's monstrous nature. Continue past this NPC, hugging the cliffside until you spot a cave that leads into the Dragon's Pit.
This dungeon is relatively quick, but it can become challenging if you're not careful. The enemies inside are primarily skeletal creatures that can absorb a lot of damage, and some even possess fire-breathing abilities. Remember, you need to hit them again once they start to reanimate to permanently defeat them. As you progress through the pit, you will encounter a large staircase. Ascending it leads to a room with a Magma Wyrm, while going down will take you to a large pit where you can jump down to face the dungeon's boss—Ancient Dragon-Man.
By now, you should have encountered an Ancient Dragon-Man on your journey to the Dragon’s Pit, so its attack patterns should be familiar. It's a straightforward fight without any tricky mechanics, allowing you to bring him down relatively easily. Once defeated, instead of exiting the dungeon, interact with the door on the far side of the room to continue your adventure toward Jagged Peak.
Once you enter Jagged Peak, you will find a single path along the cliffside leading to a large open area filled with dragon corpses. This area eventually splits into two paths—one going northeast towards Bayle and the other heading south. Prepare yourself for a series of intense battles with dragons as you make your way to Bayle.
In the open area, you will encounter a Jagged Peak Drake resting among the corpses. While it may seem like a typical dragon encounter, be warned: if you haven't fought a Drake since the release of Elden Ring's base game, you might find yourself humbled quickly. However, it's manageable if you are prepared. Once you defeat the Drake, you can start your ascent up the peak without worrying about ambushes from other enemies.
Your first significant challenge during the climb will be two Jagged Peak Drakes that you need to defeat simultaneously. When you arrive, you’ll notice them engaged in combat with each other. If you prefer a less difficult encounter, consider waiting for them to weaken each other before stepping in to finish off the last one. Upon defeating the Drakes, you'll receive Igon’s Furled Finger from a nearby NPC, which can be used against Bayle.
As you continue climbing, you'll face your next adversary: Ancient Dragon Senessax. This dragon shares similarities with Fortissax and Lansseax, possessing powerful AOE attacks that can quickly bring you down. Be sure to utilize Ashes during this fight if you wish to summon help. After defeating Senessax, keep climbing until you reach another Site of Grace near the peak.
Now, it's time to navigate your way up the cliffside. From the Site of Grace, turn left and start jumping up with your mount, Torrent. As you ascend, the platforms become narrower, increasing the risk of falling. Additionally, you will need to be cautious of lightning strikes that will complicate your climb. After some time, you will find numerous dragon corpses, indicating that you're nearing the summit. Soon, you'll reach one last Site of Grace, leading to a wide open arena. Congratulations! You've reached Bayle, one of the hardest bosses in the game. Good luck—you'll need it!
