Most Clerics use shields because it’s always good to keep your healer alive. Because of that, they generally have good ACs but can still struggle with some saving throws. Shield Master grants a bonus to your dexterity saving throws if you’re holding a shield, and you can also lower the damage you take from those effects.
A lot of people will consider the Alert feat when looking at Rogues because going first for them can be huge.
