Final Fantasy XIV's latest expansion, Dawntrail, has introduced a thrilling new accessory feature called Facewears. These include stylish glasses and other unique face props that allow players to customize their characters even further. But how do you unlock these fashionable accessories? Let’s dive in!
Facewears can be obtained in a couple of ways, with the most notable being through Calamity Salvagers located throughout the game. If you've previously owned any spectacle-like fashion accessories, you can easily exchange them for Facewears. This update not only enhances character customization but also adds a fun twist to the gameplay. Are you ready to upgrade your character's look?
To get your hands on Facewears, visit any of the Calamity Salvagers scattered across the major cities in FFXIV. If you had spectacle-like fashion accessories prior to this update, simply select “Spectacles Exchange” to receive the Facewears equivalent. Here are the locations of Calamity Salvagers:
In addition to the Calamity Salvagers, players can also purchase Facewears at the Gold Saucer from the Gold Saucer Attendant located at (X: 5.1, Y: 6.7) under the Prize Exchange III category. The prices range from 30,000 MGP to 100,000 MGP, and you'll find a variety of glasses models available. However, keep in mind that previews are not available before purchase!
Once you've acquired your first Facewear in FFXIV, you can equip it via the Character screen, just below your Feet equipment. You have the option to choose from 12 different colors for your newly bought accessory. This flexibility allows you to change your character's appearance without needing to use Dyes, which is a much-anticipated feature in Dawntrail. Furthermore, you can find more Facewears through various in-game methods, including purchasing them on the Marketboard!
Unlike other fashion accessories, Facewears remain on your character even during battles and can only be removed manually. You can wear them alongside hats and other headgear, but some gear, like masks, may obscure your Facewear. For instance, wearing the Fierce Tyrant set will hide your glasses.
Gathering enough MGP for your first Facewear isn’t overly challenging, but if you aim to collect a variety of glasses, you'll need to engage in some serious gameplay at the Gold Saucer. One of the easiest ways to earn MGP is by completing the weekly Fashion Report. Achieving 80+ points can reward you with 60,000 MGP at once, which can be boosted by activating MGP Free Company buffs.
Other effective methods to earn MGP include fulfilling your weekly Challenge Log for the Gold Saucer, participating in various GATEs every 20 minutes, and enjoying attractions such as Cactpot, arcade mini-games, and Chocobo Racing. Once you've accumulated enough, simply visit the Attendant at the entrance to exchange your hard-earned MGP for Facewears in FFXIV and flaunt your new style while enjoying the newly introduced jobs, Viper and Pictomancer!
FFXIV Dawntrail is currently available in Early Access, with the full release set for July 2nd.
