The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is an expansive world filled with dark corners and hidden dangers, and one of its most notorious locations is the Fog Rift Catacombs. This eerie place has claimed the lives of many Tarnished, who sought to plunder its treasures. Do you possess the courage to delve into its depths and emerge victorious with valuable spoils?

To begin your adventure, you'll need to locate the entrance to the Fog Rift Catacombs. This can be a daunting task if you're not prepared. Head northwest from the Castle Front Site of Grace, traversing the fortifications beneath the Fog Rift Fort. Keep your senses sharp; the presence of fog is your signal that you're on the right path. The entrance is a well-lit doorway in the northern rock face. Open the doors and take the elevator down to reach the Site of Grace for the Fog Rift Catacombs, where your journey truly begins!

Once inside, you'll experience a variety of challenges, including fierce enemies and clever traps. In this guide, we will walk you through the Fog Rift Catacombs, detailing encounters, strategies, and treasures to uncover. Prepare yourself for a thrilling adventure filled with excitement and danger!

How To Find the Fog Rift Catacombs

Your journey begins at the Castle Front Site of Grace. From here, navigate northwest through the rocky terrain and fortifications. As you approach the Fog Rift Fort, stay alert for signs of Messmer soldiers who may try to ambush you. The fog will guide you to the entrance, which is clearly marked by a well-lit doorway. Once you've found the entrance, push the doors open and descend via the elevator to reach the Site of Grace within the Fog Rift Catacombs.

Fog Rift Catacombs Walkthrough

First Encounter and Ceiling Traps

Upon entering the catacombs, be ready for your first encounter with a Stone Imp. These creatures are quick and can deal considerable damage if you're not careful. Eliminate the imp and loot the nearby corpse for a Grave Glovewort to aid your journey. Continue westward to find a larger room with another imp, but beware of the spiked ceiling trap rigged in this area!

As you enter, running straight into the room will trigger the ceiling to fall, which could squash you and the imp! Wait patiently until the ceiling drops, then make your move. There’s a safe alcove to duck into on your left, which can protect you from falling debris.

Spellcasters and More Imps

Continuing onward, you will encounter a spellcaster firing projectiles from a walkway above. These enemies pose a constant threat, so learn to dodge their spells effectively. After dealing with the imp lurking around the corner, grab the Yellow Fulgurbloom and head down the stairs to explore further.

In the next chamber, take down another imp on a platform above. You will soon face a choice: go left or right. The right path is home to two more imps, another Yellow Fulgurbloom, and the Ancient Dragon Knight’s Cookbook. Alternatively, the left path leads to a deeper section filled with even more mysteries to uncover.

Intersection 1: Ceiling Routes

Venturing left, be ready for a deep drop as a spiked ceiling will slam down nearby. Here, you can either explore the ground level or jump onto the ceiling to reach new areas. If you choose the ceiling route, run straight across to find a platform containing another imp, a Yellow Fulgurbloom, and 3 Knot Resin.

More Traps and Enemies

Continue across the ceiling to find another spellcaster. Once you've dealt with them, you’ll return to the walkway where you’ll face two soldiers and a black knight. Be strategic in your approach; lure them away one at a time and sneak up on the black knight for a critical attack. Clear this room to obtain a Great Ghost Glovewort!

Exploring the Ground Floor

Return to the deep drop and let the ceiling rise again. Drop down carefully and roll into the new room, where you will find another Yellow Fulgurbloom along with an imp. Make sure to climb the ladder in the northwest corner to reach an earlier section of the dungeon.

Once back at the drop, run straight across to discover a new room with a staircase leading down. Loot the corpse there for 2 Dragonbolt Grease and step on the lift pressure plate to descend deeper into the catacombs.

Deep into the Fog Rift Catacombs

Once you reach this new level, eliminate two additional imps and check under the stairs for 4 Rada Fruit and another Yellow Fulgurbloom. Move north and take out the spellcaster, then explore the room ahead to find another Grave Glovewort. Don't forget to grab yet another Yellow Fulgurbloom before descending the stairs to enter a large, cavernous area.

Intersection 2: Zig-Zagging Through Traps

This room features another spiked ceiling, and there are four alcoves you can use for safety. Zig-zag through these alcoves to avoid the ceiling's descent while keeping an eye out for the imp lurking in the first alcove on the left. The middle-left alcove leads to sewer passageways filled with oozes and another spellcaster. Down in this area, you will find 6 Yellow Fulgurblooms, a Ghost Glovewort, and an Electrocharge Incantation.

Hidden Treasures and Final Traps

Returning to the main room, eliminate the spellcaster and the four imps guarding a chest containing a Shadow Realm Rune. Use the spiked ceiling to reach a hidden alcove where you can find the Blinkbolt Ash of War. Nearby, there’s an altar where you can transform your Stone-Sheathed Sword into the Sword of Darkness.

Boss Chamber

At the end of your journey through the catacombs, you'll arrive at the fog door leading to the boss chamber. Prepare yourself for a formidable challenge as you face off against the Death Knight.
