As players navigate through the enchanting world of Stardew Valley, they will encounter an enormous tree located just outside the farm entrance to Cindersap Forest. When this majestic tree eventually comes crashing down, it will signal the start of a new building project, requiring players to dust off their carpentry skills. This fun twist not only enhances the gameplay but also encourages players to explore their creativity in designing and building.
In this article, we will explore the key aspects of welcoming the new residents in Stardew Valley. From finding the big tree to completing the Giant Stump questline, you'll discover all the steps needed to embark on this exciting journey. So grab your tools and get ready to dive into the world of Stardew Valley!
The Big Tree can be found to the left of the farm entrance in the Cindersap Forest. Players can approach the tree and will notice an interaction prompt by hovering the cursor over its root system. However, until the tree falls, it remains just a regular tree without any purpose.
To kick off the Giant Stump questline in Stardew Valley, players must wait for a random event that will knock the tree down. After saving for the night, players will hear strong winds and receive a notification about a windstorm hitting the valley.
Following this event, players should head to Cindersap Forest to find that the tree has transformed into a stump, marking the beginning of the quest. This change invites players to engage in new activities and challenges.
To unlock the Giant Stump quest, players need to build a house into the stump. This project requires 100 Hardwood. Once completed, players must wait a few in-game days for the new residents to arrive. Upon their arrival, a hungry Raccoon will be found next to the stump's front door, ready to provide players with various requests.
The Giant Stump quest comprises multiple requests from the Raccoons, each presenting a unique challenge. Players must fulfill these requests to progress further in the questline and unlock exciting rewards.
The first request involves some fishing. Players will be tasked with collecting two types of fish from a given list to receive a reward. This introduces an enjoyable fishing challenge while exploring the waters of Stardew Valley.
In the second request, players are asked to retrieve two Artisan goods, such as Jelly, Pickles, or Juice. Completing this task will reward players with the Raccoon Journal, which enhances the chance of finding Mixed Seeds when clearing weeds.
The third request requires players to bring a bag of Dried Mushrooms and one of several items like Eggs or Cave Carrots. Completing this will earn players the Raccoon hat, adding a fun cosmetic item to their collection.
Upon completing the Giant Stump quest, players will be awarded the “Good Neighbors” achievement. After fulfilling the eight requests, the Raccoons will begin offering random requests from the original list, providing players with ongoing opportunities to engage with the new residents.
