Where to Find the Essence of Aether Samples in MW3 Zombies

As a Tier 3 mission in Act II of Zombies in MW3, the "Essence of Aether" mission requires players to explore Urzikstan to locate and secure three samples of Aether. This substance is pivotal in gaining an edge over the zombies while also providing opportunities for gear upgrades. While the task may seem daunting due to the rarity of the mineral, it’s actually quite straightforward once you know where to look.

The three samples are contained in high-tech canisters, which appear in specific locations across the map. You don't have to worry about random spawns disrupting your progress; they always show up in the same places. Let’s break down where you need to go to collect each sample.

Where to Find MW3’s Essence of Aether Sample #1 in the Hamza Bazaar

To locate the first canister, head to the eastern side of the map and look for the Hamza Bazaar. Cross the bridge connecting Shahin Manor with Hadiqa Farms, then turn northwest into a small supermarket. You can easily identify this building by the turret mounted on its roof. Check your map for the turret icon, which will confirm you’re at the right spot. Inside, on a shelf near the cash register, you’ll discover the first Essence Container in MW3.

Where to Find MWZ’s Essence of Aether Sample #2 in the Rostova Shops

For the second Aether container, make your way to the opposite end of the map, aiming for Levin Resort in the northwest. From there, head southeast and look for a cluster of buildings that serve as both shops and apartments. If you end up in Urzikstan Cargo, you have gone too far.

Within this group of structures, focus on the largest building located in the center. Enter the building and stay on the first floor. The Rostova Shops Essence Container is situated on a desk behind two crates covered with green tarps. Although this pickup is in an orange threat zone, making it the most dangerous to collect, it’s located right on the edge of the area, so it shouldn't be too difficult to secure the second Essence of Aether sample in MWZ.

Where to Find MW3 Zombies’ Aether Sample #3 in the Quadri Shopping Center

After collecting the first two samples, head directly south from the Rostova Shops into Zaravan City. Your target is the Quadri Shopping Center, which will not be marked on the map. Zoom in and navigate towards the buildings northwest of the "Zaravan City" text. Once you find the roundabout, continue west and keep an eye out for a restaurant. The final container will be located on the counter next to the cash register.

Once you have successfully collected all three Aether Samples, you are almost done with the Essence of Aether mission in MW3 Zombies. All that remains is to call in an exfiltration chopper to complete the mission. Happy hunting, soldier!
